About Art Trek
"Art Trek, Inc. is an independent, hands-on, not-for-profit arts program bringing quality visual, literary and performing arts into the community. It has been active since 1992 and was established as a not-for-profit in 2006. Their mission is to create a positive and confidence-building experience for individuals of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds: in classrooms, in public facilities, in our studio and wherever we can meet a need. We commit to extending ourselves into high-risk programs, underserved and needy populations, senior programs, social service programs and to educators in professional training workshops. Through our staff and team of 400 volunteers, we currently reach over 20,000 students every year.
Our staff, public participants, volunteers and teachers focus not only on the technical aspects of the arts but also recognize how engagement can positively affect the lives of the participants. Art Trek workshops empart basic visual, literary and performing art skills, problem solving strategies, creative choices, goal setting/object completion, art history along, and of course... personal and social expression.
Over the course of our 15 year history, we have served not only our home community of Thousand Oaks, but also expanded our reach throughout the Conejo Valley and Ventura County areas and into Los Angeles County as far as Long Beach. In fact—to put a feather in our cap—Art Trek programs have been taught in Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, Italy, aboard a boat on the Mediterranean Sea, and in Honduras with the help of Rotary Club of Westlake Village Sunrise."
